How I got into Domaining
Back in about 1997 I was employed by a fortune 500 company managing their seven web sites. It was a high pressure job – stressful. I left and formed a small business called theindexcompany.com, LLC. The idea was to develop niche sites around an ‘index’ theme. In short order I had 30 some domains registered – petindex.com, weddingindex.com, cookingindex.com, financialindex.com, ticketindex.com, healthcareindex.com, etc. etc. I had some pretty good, but simple, sites – a few advertisers, a couple revenue sharing editors. Then POP! Strapped for cash I hung it up. Dropped the business and most of the domain names. But I never lost the fever, and in the Spring of 2008 I dedicated some money to the pursuit of the domaining. Like I said, I’m a rookie who has been at it since 1997.
