I’m beginning this new thread in my blog partially to talk about some of my “better” domain names and partially as a means of positive self-reinforcment. As my domains pop up for renewal I have to make a difficult, gut-wrenching decision of whether to renew them or not. Often I use a measure of traffic and revenue to make the decision, and other times I use a “gut feeling” approach. Nothing scientific – just great keywords, great sound, or ???
The domain I just renewed that I want to justify is BondFund.info.
To me it a a popular subject matter with an appropriate extension. Now I am not a financial guy and do not know much about bond funds, but if I was going to search for info I think that “bond fund information” would be a logical search term to type in, and a great site to look at further. According to estibot the term has 4,400 exact searches and and an average cpc of $6.64. The .com is valued at $15K, while the .info is valued at $500. The other major extensions are pretty much parked. My options are a mini-site or a sale to a real financial institution.
I think I will go the mini-site route with a $1,500 asking price. We’ll see.
